High efficiency on the high seas
Examples of maritime energy solutions with the iE Convert
DEIF iE Convert power converters help you design, build, and operate efficient and reliable hybrid energy systems on a wide range of ship types. You can use them on vessels with AC, DC, or combination buses, converting energy as needed depending on operational requirements – and with very low energy losses.

The iE Convert series offers a unique combination of high switching frequencies and galvanic isolation that makes it highly useful in many scenarios. Here are some examples of how you can use iE Convert devices:
- A DC/AC marine drive that provides efficient propulsion by powering AC thrusters or propellers from a DC bus.
- A DC/AC converter that powers onboard AC equipment such as winches, cranes, machinery, pumps, HVAC systems, and hotel loads from a DC bus.
- A buck-boost DC/DC converter that steps down voltage from the DC bus (or other DC source such as a fuel cell or DC shore connection) for charging a battery, or steps up stored energy to the onboard bus voltage when discharging.
- A buck-boost DC//DC converter with galvanic isolation that you can use to integrate a fuel cell or other DC power source in the onboard power/energy system whilst also isolating it to prevent stray currents.
- A bidirectional DC/AC converter that lets you connect a battery to an AC bus, charging and discharging the battery storage as required to improve energy efficiency and reduce emisions.
On ships with both an AC and a DC busbar, power converters help you integrate the two power architectures and reap the benefits of both.
