Steam-based power management with load shedding

The AGC Steam controller lets you set up an efficient power management system. You can use it to link several turbines controlled by DEIF’s Steam Turbine Governor application. This networked architecture gives you a number of benefits in complex systems:

·        You can distribute the load between your turbines, running each as closely as possible to its optimal duty point and maximising efficiency. The power management controllers also let you synchronise the turbines quickly and efficiently.

·        The AGC Steam lets you run all turbines at base load, keeping one turbine in frequency mode to handle variable loads in island operation. If the plant load decreases, the power management reduces the base load of all turbines to protect the variable turbine from reverse power.

·        The AGC controllers act as backups for one another, ensuring uninterrupted control even if a controller fails.

·        The power management system can include AGC mains and bus tie breaker controllers that prioritise turbine or mains power according to your priorities and divides the busbar into sections as needed.

·        DEIF offers a customised Load Shedding application on our AMC 600 hardware, ensuring that demand does not outstrip supply and helping you maximise steam turbine efficiency.

You can control and monitor the entire power management system using AGI 400 series displays or from a third-party SCADA system. And you can use DEIF’s Insight remote monitoring tool to supervise the system from your smartphone wherever you are.
